On this day – 21 February

Posted on: Fri 21 Feb 2020

Breakfast celebrates the anniversary of the telephone directory in 1878 (also known as yellow and white pages). The first issue of the directory was published on this day in New Haven Connecticut and was a simple piece of cardboard which listed 50 individuals and businesses that had telephones in that city.

Another relevant celebration on this day in history is the International Mother Language Day through which UNESCO intends to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and to promote multilingualism in the world.
