Part 2 of our 2018 interview with Retired Navy Captain, Author Dr Ian Pfennigwerth about his biography of Surgeon Lieutenant Commander Samuel ‘Sam’ Stening DSC, Royal Australian Naval Reserve.  We left part 1 as Sam was again posted to HMAS Perth.  Perth was deployed to Java and after refueling, departed for the Sunda Strait.  Before sailing Perth was informed that the Western Japanese force was on its way to Java, but would not be a problem.
