How often do you check your phone?

It is believed the use of smartphones rises the levels of the stress hormone called cortisol in our body.

High cortisol levels on the long term might be a factor of the development of diseases like diabetes or dementia.

Although research has not confirmed the direct relationship between cortisol and smartphones, our digital devices are certainly making us feel more stressed.

Brad Ridout, Research Fellow with the Faculty of Medicine and Health at The University of Sydney, speaks with Breakfast producer David Bucio about digital stress and the keys to have a healthier relationship with our smartphones and computers.
