In 2003, actor Arnold Schwarzenegger was elected governor of California, beating out the other 134 candidates on the ballot. These included career politicians, other actors, and one adult-film star.

In 1975, a New York State Supreme Court judge reversed a deportation order for John Lennon, allowing him to remain legally in his adoptive home of New York City.
