Spoken Word SA winners

Posted on: Sat 5 Oct 2019

The Spoken Word SA competition is done for another year.

Last week, Emelia Haskey won and Caroline Reid came runner up. The duo are now off to the Sydney Opera House to perform for the national competition.

They join Tara Nash to talk about their work and read their winning poems.

“I think it’s as much about the actual poem itself as the way you perform it,”  Emelia says.

“It’s not only having the confidence to go on stage but also to get in the zone and really feeling the emotions that caused you to write that poem.

“You have to  relieve that.. to convey it to the audience.”
