Keith Oliver WW2 Veteran: My Service At Sea – Too young for the Navy

Posted on: Mon 12 Aug 2019

Born in 1924, Keith began his seafaring career at age 14 in 1939.  He joined the Small Ships Section in 1943 in Melbourne, and was lucky shortly afterward to survive the sinking of his first US ATSS ship, the S-209 Davenport off the coast at Newcastle NSW.  He went on to serve in the Pacific, North Atlantic, Mediterranean, Indian Ocean, East Indies and New Guinea.
