NZ announces gun buyback scheme

Posted on: Mon 24 Jun 2019

The New Zealand Government has announced a buyback scheme for remaining firearms across the country.

The scheme has been implemented as an act of amnesty following the Christchurch terrorist attack in March.

Also across the country, Matariki celebrations have begun that mark Māori New Year.

Events are continuing in the coming months honouring Māori culture and teachings.

New Zealand correspondent Oscar Perress from 95bFM joins Breakfast’s Tom Mann and Zoe Kounadis to discuss this and other news from across the Tasman.
