On This Day:

In 1959, legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix was fired between songs on his first ever gig. A 16-year-old Hendrix was playing in a Synagogue in Seattle when he was asked to leave. He later reflected in his biography that he was only ‘overcome by soul’.

In 1967, one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century, Kurt Cobain, was born.  Cobain, like Hendrix, had his career cut short at the young age of 27.
