Apu from The Simpsons has made international headlines over the past year, following the release of comedian Hari Kondabolu’s documentary The Problem With Apu. The documentary explores the degree of racial stereotyping represented by the character, and Apu’s influence on perceptions of people of South Asian heritage in the United States.
