Pokies Addiction – Charles Livingstone

Posted on: Thu 1 Nov 2018

While addiction to pokie machines is a well-known burden on society, a new study has shown that players are being affected in ways that people may not expect.

Cheerful music, casino noises and flashing lights are just some of the ways people are being drawn into using gaming machines.

Charles Livingstone, Senior Lecturer in the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at Monash University, joins Nick and Ian on Breakfast this morning to discuss this new research.

If you or anyone you know is affected by a gambling addiction, phone Gambling Helpline on 1800 858 858.
