Action now on domestic violence deaths

Posted on: Tue 16 Oct 2018

Why is the necessary action on domestic violence deaths not being taken?

Many women will be familiar with the tragic and all too familiar statistic that one woman dies every week at the hands of a current or former partner. Recently, this figure rose to almost one death every day, after a nine-day period between October 3 and 12 saw the deaths of eight women.

The 2018 death toll for women murdered has now reached at least fifty-five, and even as these numbers rise and voices call out for action, these needless deaths aren’t getting the attention they warrant, and women aren’t feeling safe.
