Should Recreational Marijuana Be Legalised?

Greens’ leader, Richard Di Natale, has called for cannabis to be legalised in Australia for recreational use and for it to be regulated by a federal agency.
While this proposal has shocked some, a recent opinion poll found that around 30% of Australians think cannabis should be legal as current measures to regulate the illicit drug have not had the desired outcomes.
‘The current approach of prohibition has failed and that needs to change,’ said Dr Nicole Lee from Curtin University’s National Drug Research Institute.
