Saving Gippsland’s old growth forest

Posted on: Sun 5 Nov 2017

Conservationists who established a blockade to stop the logging of old growth forest in Victoria’s East Gippsland are celebrating after they secured a legal injunction that has stalled the logging operation. The controversy erupted last week when VicForests constructed a road into the forest to commence logging. The Goongerah Environment Centre called on Environment Minister, Lily D’Ambrosio to step in and protect the old growth forest. To find out more, Barometer’s Des Lawrence spoke to Ed Hill of the Goongerah Environment Centre.
