Government Scrapped Clean Energy Target

The Federal Government has decided to scrap it’s Clean Energy Target in favour of a new “National Energy Guarantee”.
The new plan aims to lower household energy bills and ensure the security of energy to all Australians. However, the Federal Government is taking a lot of flak from all sides.
So, was dumping the Clean Energy Target necessary? What has got the people up in arms over the decision? How much will the NEG save consumers?
