Fight for the Bight

Posted on: Mon 16 Oct 2017

In recent news, international energy giant Chevron announced that they will join BP by abandoning their plans to drill for oil in the pristine marine wilderness of the Great Australian Bight.

Peter Owen, environmental activist and the South Australian director of the Wilderness Society has spearheaded BP and Chevrons plans, by forming the Great Australian Bight Alliance and tirelessly working to drive fossil fuel mining out of the Bight forever.

Peter joins Breakfast Presenter Tom Mann to discuss the risks involved with oil drilling and what this means for the future of the Bight and Australia’s energy industry.

“we don’t want you risking our Great Australian Bight… and the billions of dollars invested in local fishing and South Australian tourism corporations”.
