Women’s Parliament

Posted on: Fri 1 Sep 2017

“…There has been an erosion in South Australian progressiveness and change…South Australia has never had a female premier and I just thought it was time to question why women are underrepresented in South Australian politics…”.

Although South Australia was the first Australian state to grant women the right to vote, females have still been fiercely underrepresented in local politics. Despite this monumental achievement, there has not been a female premier from South Australia.

This all needs to change. Cultural event producer, Julianne Pierce joined Jennie Lenman and Ian Newton to speak about her new initiative to form an all women’s parliament in South Australia which will encourage women to have their say in local politics.

For information on this, visit this website. If you are interested in becoming part of the women’s parliament, register now for a free information event on the 5th of October.
