Got an idea for your neighbourhood?

Posted on: Fri 1 Sep 2017

Applications are now open for Fund My Neighbourhood, a new program that gives South Australians the chance to suggest and choose improvement projects for their neighbourhood.

The State Government has committed $40 million to the program, half of which is available this year. It is inviting ideas from individuals across the state for neighbourhood improvement projects valued between $10,000 and $150,000.

No one knows a neighbourhood – and what it needs – better than its residents. Could your area do with a community garden to bring people together through growing and sharing fresh food? Extra street lighting for more safety at night? Better amenities for South Australians with disabilities? Or more enjoyable spaces through murals and green-scaping?

Rachel Leverton spoke to Breakfast’s Jennie Lenman about how to apply.

Applications close on 8 September and voting to decide which ideas become a reality, begins in October. To find out more, including FAQs and details of information sessions, visit fundmyneighbourhood.sa.gov.au today.
