Minding our monuments

“…Some people do not want the history of this country to be diminished…”
Dr. Freya Higgins-Desboilles joined Jennie Lenman and Ian Newton to chat about the recent controversy surrounding the politics around public monuments. Freya touched on the riots in The United States and how they have become relevant in an Australian context after debate has erupted over a statue of Captain Cook in Sydney proclaiming that he had discovered the nation.
Freya discusses how monuments must show both sides of history and why it is important not to diminish the lives of Indigenous Australians.
