“A lot of my poems are about these experiences of how myself and also my generation, they’re facing this very difficult and sometimes very horrific and sad experiences. So my poems, a lot of them are self-reflection and at the same time it does talk about incidents and current events happening in the Middle East and Afghanistan.”

Elyas Alavi speaking about his unique artwork.

He is an Adelaide-based Afghani-born artist and poet. Himself and musician Derek Pascoe joined Jennie Lenman to speak about his incredible life, the effect music has on his art and his upcoming performance at Nexus Arts on 28 July 2017.
