Gas Reveals our Ancient History

Posted on: Tue 25 Jul 2017

The Velkerri Shale are rock formations where an estimated 118 trillion cubic feet of gas is estimated to reside. What does this mean for the future of our climate and for oil production?

Geologists from the University of Adelaide, Alan Collins and Grant Cox, join Jennie Lenman to discuss. Grant describes the changing nature of our atmosphere,

“Unlike today where we have 21% of oxygen, which we all enjoy and need, back then we probably had less than three per cent oxygen in the atmosphere, so if we could time travel back, we would actually struggle to survive at all.”
