On This Day – 14 July

Posted on: Fri 14 Jul 2017

Vive la France! On this day in 1789, Parisians stormed the Bastille and overthrew the French governor, Launay. Breakfast producer Olivia De Zilva joined Jennie Lenman and Ian Newton in the studio to discuss this momentous occasion in French history and how it led to the democracy we know today.

219 years later in 2008, Christopher Nolan’s second instalment in his Batman series, The Dark Knight was first released in New York.
