Established in the UK as the first conference of its type to address the issues facing self-releasing artists and independent record labels, Indie-Con is now launching in Australia in conjunction with this year’s 11th Australian Independent Record Labels Association Awards.
Conference Programmer Stu Watters spoke about how the conference first came about, “there were no specific conferences that were targeting the needs of the independent label sector specifically, so Indie Con in the UK set up…we thought that was a great idea”.
The indie industry in Australia is overwhelming said Watters, “the independent sector has probably put out the lion share of releases in the market”.
He joined Jennie Lenman this morning to talk all things Indie-Con.
