Great Uncertainty for Our Barrier Reef

It’s no secret that Australia’s own world wonder the Great Barrier Reef is at risk of dramatic degradation in the face of climate change and land clearing. So why is the Reef not on UNESCO’s in-danger list?

Jennie was joined on-air by Associate Professor of Environmental Management at the University of Queensland Dr. Martine Maron.

“The facts are that the Reef is under an enormous amount of pressure … at the same time, the World Heritage Committee has been keeping and eye on this, and part of their decision about whether or not to actually place it on a list of officially in-danger World Heritage properties is: what responses does Australia have to try to address some of these concerns?”
