Nuclear dead end

The federal parliament’s Joint Standing Committee on Treaties (JSCOT) recently signed off on the use of public funds to support research into so-called Generation IV nuclear reactors. This decision follows a rushed process with no public hearings, but the Australian Conservation Foundation and Friends of the Earth made a written submission. The Federal Government is also going ahead with planned uranium sales to Ukraine, despite political instability there. To find out more, Barometer’s Des Lawrence spoke to the Australian Conservation Foundation’s nuclear free campaigner Dave Sweeney.
