Citizenship Test Controversy

The proposed changes to the Australian citizenship test were introduced into parliament last week.

Under these new measures, aspiring citizens will need to prove they have a “basic” comprehension of reading, writing, speaking and listening English – a measure which many have deemed unnecessary.

Research Associate at the Centre of Excellence for Equity in Higher Education at the University of Newcastle, Dr Sally Baker joined Jennie to discuss these changes and the impact they will have.
