Terror attacks around the world have recently been a constant staple of the breaking news cycle, with sites such as Twitter being a distributor of news updates on attacks, political comments and waves of sympathy from the public.
However, is the media overly publicising terrorism? And in the wake of the attacks, are social media sites an appropriate place for political debate?
Tom Rohde asked Denis Muller, Senior Research Fellow in the Centre for Advancing Journalism at the University of Melbourne, about how the media covers terror attacks.
