A recent study by the University of Adelaide has broken new ground – using artificial intelligence to predict patients’ lifespans simply by analysing chest scan images .
While this development incurs some moral dilemmas, it could play an important role in preventing and treating chronic illnesses.
Lead author of this study and University of Adelaide PhD student, Dr Luke Oakden-Rayner spoke with Jennie Lenman about what was found and the implications it could have across multiple areas.
