On this day in 1896 Guglielmo Marconi, the famous Italian inventor, applied to patent the radio.

Italy celebrates a national holiday today, known as Republic Day or Festival of the Republic.

Allen Ginsberg wrote his poem Lysergic Acid on this day

David Bowie released his very first album on this day in 1967.
