Adelaide to become a smart city

Posted on: Wed 17 May 2017

Adelaide is looking to become one of Australia’s first smart cities, using data and internet technology to shape future infrastructure, energy and resources of the state’s capital.

Gerald Matthews from Matthew Architects said that if the plan goes ahead, “Adelaide is actually going to have one of the fastest internal internet systems within the CBD called GeekCity…that might not mean a lot to people in the suburbs, but it means a huge amount to businesses that have to transfer and deal with large amounts of data and that’s pretty much every business these days”.

Gerald Matthews came by the studio to discuss the rise of smart cities with Jennie Lenman.
