No funds from Westpac –  the killer blow for Adani’s Carmichael coal mine?

The most recent of the significant decisions on the financing Adani’s Carmichael coal mine happened last week, when Westpac indicated that it would not be providing any financing for the project. Now its only saviour is through a federal government loan, a decision that could create an electoral backlash for the government. Nevertheless key government ministers continue to promote the mine aided by unwavering support from The Australian newspaper.

To talk over the issue, Barometer’s Des Lawrence spoke to David Holmes, Senior Lecturer in Communications and Media, at Monash University.
