The 19th of April marked the day that Captain Cook first sighted Australia in 1770 as he navigated the Pacific on his ship the HMS Endeavour.

In 1961, the Cuban Bay of Pigs Invasion failed, it was sponsored by the CIA to fund exiled and anti-Castro paramilitaries to invade Soviet Cuba.

And the Simpsons premiered it’s first ever episode, it is currently the longest running American sitcom and the longest running American animated program.
