Fred Chaney on the relationship between Governments and Indigenous Australians

Posted on: Sat 26 Nov 2016

Indigenous Australians are becoming more disadvantaged, with increases in imprisonment rates, mental health issues and self-harm in recent years, according to a new Productivity Commission report.

Fred Chaney is a former Federal Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, a founding co-chair of Reconciliation Australia and past Deputy Chair of the Native Title Tribunal.  He spoke to Aboriginal Message on the release of the report.

He believes that Governments have to fundamentally change the way they work with Aboriginal people.

Fred Chaney was key note speaker at the recent Reconciliation South Australia Annual General Meeting
