Events around the country last week marked the eighth anniversary of Prime Minister Kevin Rudd’s apology to members of the Stolen Generations in Federal Parliament.

Barkinji woman and Adelaide singer Nancy Bates performed at the Apology Breakfast in Adelaide.  She opened with her original song “Old Black Woman” and supported Archie Roach as he performed several songs including “Took the Children Away”. She joins Aboriginal Message to reflect on her connection with the Stolen Generations, the power of music and its role in promoting empathy for Indigenous people.
